Beyond Medicine
Community Service
Pikes Peak Cardiology is an active participant in the academic and social communities of Colorado Springs, as well as an integral component of the medical community. Community support by Pikes Peak Cardiology is continually demonstrated by its "Service First" philosophy.
Partnership
As a "good neighbor," Pikes Peak Cardiology, which supports the American Heart Association as both a corporate sponsor and educator, focuses on public advocacy by training local advocates and partnering with other health organizations. Dr. Ron Blonder and Dr. David Greenberg have been actively involved with the Colorado Springs Chapter of AHA since 1978 and 1980 respectively. Pikes Peak Cardiology is also a corporate sponsor of the Pikes Peak Hospice Foundation.
Education
Pikes Peak Cardiology collaborates with Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences in the sponsorship of a lecture series on National Health Care Policy, a preceptorship for the nursing program, and an endowment. The lecture series will foster community interest in the impact of national policy on our community. The better the community is informed, the better it can respond to policy implications. Pikes Peak Cardiology also lectures at the local military facilities. Dr. Ted Eastburn is on faculty at the Health Sciences Center at the University of Colorado.
Training
The Colorado Springs Osteopathic Foundation and Pikes Peak Cardiology provide training opportunities for medical students and residents who develop interpersonal and practice skills under the tutelage of the physician mentors. Dr. Ron Blonder is one of the founding fathers of the Foundation.
Volunteerism
Pikes Peak Cardiology provides volunteer services at the Community Health Center via clinics conducted by Drs. Jim Glass and David Rosenbaum. Also, many of the staff at Pikes Peak Cardiology volunteer at American Heart Association events such as the Heart Walk and Heart Ball.
Uniformed Services
Pikes Peak Cardiology provides care for active and retired military members and family members of all Military Services. Pikes Peak Cardiology participates in both TRICARE and TRICARE PRIME Programs. When other providers declined to participate in TRICARE, Pikes Peak Cardiology provided the impetus to construct a provider network for TRICARE. Many of its cardiologists have served in the Armed Forces and are proud to provide services to our uniformed brethren. All of our physicians lecture at the local military hospitals.
Leadership
The physicians of Pikes Peak Cardiology steadfastly maintain their philosophy of "Service First" and act in the best interest of their patients. They have historically held numerous leadership positions within the medical community. Dr. Ted Eastburn served four years on city council. |
