Dr. David Schwartz began his scientific career at P.S. 26 in the Bronx, a small suburb in New York City, NY. He graduated from the University of Denver in 1970 with a degree in Biological Sciences. He attended Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO, earning his medical degree in 1974. He completed his post-graduate training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at the Jewish Hospital, Washington University School of Medicine. After serving as Chief Resident in Internal Medicine at the Jewish Hospital, he traveled north to the University of Chicago where he survived the –70 degree winter of 1980 as a faculty member in the Division of Cardiology. In 1982, he returned to the Jewish Hospital as Director of the Coronary Care Unit, a faculty member, and a clinical researcher. Presently, Dr. Schwartz is the Medical Director for Diagnostic Testing for the practice's on-site diagnostic testing facility.
In 1985, his career took him to the open spaces of Cheyenne, WY, where he helped establish the Interventional Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery programs in the community. During those years, he served as the Governor of Wyoming on the Board of the American College of Cardiology. In 1990, he came to Colorado Springs to continue his clinical practice of Cardiology.
He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Society of Cardiac Angiography and Interventions. His special practice interests include clinical cardiology, risk factor modification, and echocardiography.
Outside of the world of medicine, his interests include hiking, skiing, reading, music, playing the clarinet and woodworking. |
